Pat Bliss was born in in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm west of the city. Bliss' interest in art began in his childhood and was encouraged by his mother, Vera, who was an artist. Bliss was drawn to a variety of mediums as a child and teenager, including sketching, painting, and paper-mache sculpture. The main point of this blog is to supply information for what could become a thorough study on Saskatchewan’s art history. Cathryn Miller will be showing some new book works at the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery on the University of Saskatchewan campus the week of June 26 — 30, as part of a group exhibition. There will be a presentation by the participating artists at noon on Tuesday the 27th, and a celebratory evening on the 28th.

henderson. She also mentioned that the MacKenzie Art Gallery has an excellent teacher guide for the PNIAI group. The PNIAI group emerged as a reaction to Indigenous art being displayed in museums instead of art galleries. The members wanted to be recognized as artists and created a strong, recognizable, art style.

The pouring rain made it a good day to spend inside engaged in book-related activities. The morning started off with Cathryn Miller presenting a slide show of altered books, both other people’s and her own.
The Canadian Bookbinders & Book Artists Guild (CBBAG) Saskatchewan Chapter welcomes anyone residing in the province who is interested in learning about bookbinding and book arts.
All current members of CBBAG who reside in Saskatchewan automatically become members of the Saskatchewan Chapter. Her art is in the public collections of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Government of Saskatchewan, MacKenzie Art Gallery, Weyburn Arts Council and the City of Regina, as well as in numerous private collections.
